Admissions

Leicester Therapeutic School will always put the child’s needs at the centre of every decision it makes regarding suitable placements for pupils. We will follow our admissions policy to ensure that the process is adhered to consistently and fairly. We will work in collaboration with parents and local authorities during the process.

Leicester Therapeutic  School will proceed with admissions should a child meet the following aspects: 

• Pupils will be aged between 5 (Year 1) and 11 (Year 6). Leicester Therapeutic School is unable to take secondary aged children. 
• Pupils will have an Education, Health and Care plan (EHCP) and will predominately have a primary diagnosis of Cognition and Learning and/or Social Emotional Mental Health.  

Leicester Therapeutic School will consider a range of other special educational needs such as, but not limited to:

1. Speech, language and communication difficulties 
2. High anxiety and/or school refusers 
3. Sensory processing difficulties

​In these circumstances, special consideration will be given to whether or not the school can meet the needs as set out in the pupil’s EHCP.  

In all circumstances, Leicester Therapeutic School will complete a comprehensive assessment of need, outlined below to ensure they can meet the child’s special educational needs in full.
