
An experienced education professional with over 33 years of service in Leicester and Leicestershire schools, Ms. Lee has dedicated her career to supporting inclusive education and the needs of vulnerable learners. She has spent 21 years as a Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) and a further 7 years as Deputy Head in a primary school, developing a deep understanding of both classroom practice and school leadership.
Beyond her school-based roles, Ms. Lee has served on three governing bodies across mainstream, primary special, and secondary special settings, offering a broad perspective on governance and school improvement. She has also played an active role in Leicester City Council’s initiatives to enhance provision for vulnerable and disabled children.
As a parent of a child with complex and profound disabilities, Ms. Lee brings not only professional expertise but also lived experience, enriching her commitment to inclusive education and holistic support for all learners.

In her professional life. Drawing on her extensive leadership experience and passion for supporting young people, she has chosen to contribute to Leicester Therapeutic School by serving as its Chair of Governors, helping to guide the school’s strategic direction and uphold its mission of providing high-quality therapeutic education.

Jamie is a highly experienced early years professional specialising in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Special Educational Needs (SEN). They have held senior leadership roles across early years and childcare settings, including Preschool Manager at St Mary’s Preschool and Childcare Matron and Nursery Manager at Leicester Royal Infirmary. They contributed to the EYFS consultation board and served as Secretary of the Pre-School Learning Alliance. They also led the introduction of the Reggio Emilia approach across Leicester early years settings and primary schools, working alongside the EYFS framework.
Throughout their career, they have acted as Child Protection Officer and SENCO, leading early identification of need, multi-agency working, and ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice. They also designed special needs referral forms for the Leicester Special Needs Support Service, which remain in use for training at Leicester College.
Their experience combines hands-on practice, strategic leadership, and specialist SEN expertise, with a strong focus on inclusion, safeguarding, and early intervention. This extensive and varied experience provides a strong foundation for effective oversight of safeguarding arrangements, enabling the Safeguarding Chair of Governors to offer informed challenge, strategic leadership, and assurance that safeguarding remains a central priority within the Leicester Therapeutic School.
Looking ahead, our Safeguarding Governor is excited to take on a new challenge in supporting Leicester Therapeutic School with its safeguarding responsibilities. They are committed to working collaboratively with school leaders and governors to ensure that safeguarding arrangements remain robust, effective, and responsive to the needs of all pupils.
With a strong commitment to promoting children’s welfare, they are keen to support children in any way possible, ensuring that safeguarding remains at the heart of decision-making and school culture. They look forward to offering informed guidance, constructive challenge, and ongoing support to the school, drawing on their extensive experience to help strengthen safeguarding practice and ensure that every child is safe, supported, and able to thrive.

Sunny is a highly accomplished Senior Chartered Actuary (FIA, CERA) with over a decade of experience working within heavily regulated financial services firms across several personal & commercial line insurers, reinsurers and Lloyds syndicates. He brings extensive expertise in governance, regulatory compliance and risk oversight, having led complex capital modelling, validation and regulatory approval processes with direct engagement with the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) and Lloyds of London.
Sunny has a strong track record of working with highly sensitive data and operating within robust governance and control frameworks, demonstrating a clear understanding of data protection, accountability and assurance. He is experienced in presenting complex risk and scenario analysis at Board and Committee level and is known for providing clear, independent challenge that supports effective decision-making.
A respected leader and mentor, Sunny has consistently strengthened governance cultures, improved controls and supported teams to deliver to high regulatory standards. He brings to the GDPR Governor role a meticulous, ethical and proportionate approach, ensuring that data protection, confidentiality and compliance remain central to organisational practice.
Sunny is excited to take on the role of GDPR Governor for Leicester Therapeutic School and is passionate about supporting the school’s leadership and staff team. He brings a wealth of experience from highly regulated environments, which enables him to provide informed guidance, constructive challenge and reassurance around data protection and compliance. Sunny is committed to working collaboratively with the school to strengthen GDPR practice, promote a strong culture of accountability, and ensure that the personal data of pupils, families and staff is handled with the highest levels of care, integrity and confidentiality.
The Governing Body are responsible for ensuring high quality/standards across the school, pupil outcomes, oversight of Senior Leadership Team, school development, performance management of the Headteacher and financial oversight of the school. The Governing Body comprises of the following members:
