Pupil Premium is an initiative designed to enhance the educational outcomes of disadvantaged pupils in England. At Leicester Therapeutic School, we strategically utilise this funding to support our pupils who are identified as being in receipt of Pupil Premium, ensuring they receive additional personalised and targeted support.
A key aspect of our provision is our Speech and Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy. This support is vital in fostering effective learning and social interaction among pupils and a route to have a sense of themselves. Furthermore, we closely monitor attendance on a weekly basis, with particular emphasis on Pupil Premium children, recognising that consistent attendance is crucial for academic success.
Well-being is another sustained focus at Leicester Therapeutic School. We understand the importance of mental health in facilitating effective learning, and we incorporate this into our daily practices. Our commitment to overcoming challenges related to poor working memory is achieved through retrieval practices and a multi-sensory approach to teaching, which engages students on various levels.
In addition to academic support, we embed personal development throughout our curriculum, broadening life experiences and fostering essential skills for the future. Under the guidance of our Pupil Premium Lead, Helen Dixon, we continually strive to enhance our offer, ensuring that Pupil Premium funding is effectively used to promote equity in educational opportunities for all students.
