At Leicester Therapeutic School we want all children to have a positive experience of school life and be able to reach their full potential. One way in which parents can help their child to do this is by ensuring they attend school every day.
We do recognise that there will be times that your child will not be able to attend school.
If your child is unwell and unable to attend, it is the responsibility of you as a parent/carer to inform the school. A telephone call to the office before 9am is necessary; otherwise an unauthorised absence will be recorded.
In the event of your child having a medical appointment during school time, please inform the school office providing evidence of the appointment. We will follow up on any absences not reported in line with our attendance policies and safeguarding policies.
If a parent/carer wishes to take their child out of school for any reason, this must be requested via an absence request form to the Headteacher. Holidays during term time will not be granted unless they are considered to be 'exceptional circumstances'.
The school considers each application for term-time absence individually, considering the specific facts, circumstances and relevant context behind the request. A leave of absence is granted entirely at the Headteachers discretion. Please see the office for a absence request form
